Visiting Oregon October 07 2014

A little over a week ago I was up in Oregon and, among lots of driving and rainy days, I happened upon a couple of letterpress studios.

The first was in downtown Portland, Oblation Papers & Press, they have a beautiful store selling so many pretty things, with a paper making studio and print shop in the back.

They also had two little parakeets, which since I was missing my own little green bird, Stormy, back in Denver I had to have a quick chat with them - Pica, pictured below, was very cute and friendly.

The second studio I came across was Teenee Mi in Bend, located in a great community studio space called The Workhouse along with other artists and designers working in various media.

Sam, the owner of Teenee Mi, saw me looking at her press so I said hi and we chatted about printing for a little while. She has a gorgeous 8 x 12 Chandler and Price press from the early 1900's which she uses to make wonderful cards and invites. Pic borrowed from Teenee Mi's facebook page.

I hadn't gone to Oregon with the plan of meeting any other letterpress printers so it was a nice surprise to come across them.
