Newly printed, these adorable (even if I do say so myself!) Totoro inspired designs are now available on coasters and cards in my Etsy Store. There’s the big grey Totoro, the little blue and white Totoros, Catbus, and a sprinkling of Soot Sprites.

This weekend is Denver’s first Maker Faire!
For those of you who might be new to the maker faire concept here a little blurb from the website to get you excited:
Maker Faire is the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth—a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker movement. It’s a place where people show what they are making, and share what they are learning.
Makers range from tech enthusiasts to crafters to homesteaders to scientists to garage tinkerers. They are of all ages and backgrounds. The aim of Maker Faire is to entertain, inform, connect and grow this community.
I’ll be making free mini prints of different designs during both days, so stop by my booth, #516, to see the printing process, grab a mini print, and buy cards and coasters your friends will love.
…and don’t forget Sunday is Star Wars Day!
There’s still space available in my Photo Flag Book Workshop starting in a few weeks here in Denver…
When and Where: May 5 & 12, 6-9pm @ ASLD
Description: Explore the versatile flag book structure in relation to photographic imagery as you create a pseudo pop-up book with great movement and a wonderful flapping sound when opened. Learn basic variations on the flag book structure and explore options for more complex forms determined by your individual photographic images.
Got to the Art Students League of Denver website and click on the “Search for Classes” link to register.
Ready in perfect time to order for Star Wars day on May 4th, here’s my new 5×7 inch Yoda Print…

I’m now selling items through Society6 (click on the above image to go to my store front). This is going to allow me to sell larger digital prints and other items, like throw pillows, mugs, and tshirts, based off of my letterpress designs that I couldn’t otherwise produce. I’m excited about the new possibilities and I hope you will be too.
So far I’ve only got my Eames designs uploaded but I’ll be adding more over the coming weeks.
Only one month till Denver Mini Maker Faire…
I’ll be there with my press and lots of cards and coasters. Hope to see you there.
I was recently invited to be a part of the Geek Boutique a cool little shop selling handmade and limited edition items with a geeky theme, of course. It’s located within the bigger Brave New World Comics store in Newhall, California.
They just open last weekend with a Geek Girls Night event so if you’re in the area check it out. Here’s some pics of my cards and coasters in the store…
In a couple of weeks, I begin teaching a 4 week workshop at the Art Students League of Denver where you can learn how to create beautiful leather bound journals like the one pictured above (and more complex sewings by the end of the course) and like ones that that I sell in my Etsy store. They make great gifts and are study enough to stand up to a little abuse if you like to carry a journal around daily or while traveling.
The class runs on Mondays, March 10-31 from 6-9pm – register by March 6 by going to www.asld.org clicking the “Search for Classes” link on the righthand side and choose “Porteous Susan” from the instructors to find my classes, you can then click to register online. I hope to see you in a few weeks!
Here’s the official class description: “Learn to create beautiful bindings for journals using long and link stitch techniques that attach pages directly to a leather cover. Explore a variety of traditional sewing patterns and create your own original stitch designs. Explore ways to embellish covers with decorative sewing and weaving techniques and different tie or clasp options.”
Also check back for info on my Photo Flag Books class at ASLD coming in May.

It’s well into the New Year and I’ve been slacking on my blogging yet again…
So I thought I would properly introduce my dogs and cats collection which I started to make available just before the holidays and finally got the last couple of designs printed and listed on Etsy a few weeks ago.
So far I have 9 breeds of dogs available and 2 cats all as silhouettes including: (top row) German Shepherd, Greyhound, Labrador Retriever, Chihuahua, (middle row) sitting cat, Bulldog, Yorkshire Terrier, Boxer, (bottom row) Dachshund, Golden Retriever, and a standing cat.
I know there are many more breeds out there and I hope to expand my offerings over time, but for now I hope these adorable puppies will make you happy!

Hope everyone have a wonderful holiday season!
All my holiday cards and gift tags are now on sale so if you’re one of those people who plans ahead now is the perfect time to pick them up and save them for next year. Or if you’re just now getting around to sending out your Christmas presents it might be nice to send a belated card along with them to explain why you forgot!
